Super Bowl + Super Shopping

Hello loves and Happy Monday! Hope y'all all had a great weekend. I spent the weekend in Greenville celebrating my Mom's birthday. So much fun! I know most people were looking forward to the Super Bowl on Sunday, but all that was on my mind was some super shopping! Jason Wu. for. Target. Since I was in the GVL (read: less crazy than the ATL market), I decided to brave the store. So glad I did!

At the first store, I tried on a bunch of stuff and got this dress. Very flattering on and I think it will make a great spring work dress. I also got a very cute (non Jason Wu, Merona) white eyelet skirt that will be great with a navy top and cute necklace later on.

We hit Targ number 2 next, and I was so glad we did since they had some different inventory. I tried on a few more pieces and ended up with this dress. Y'all. The picture does not this justice. It has a pearl collar and is just darling on.

But, my Jason Wu wish list was not complete. The minute I laid eyes on the navy poplin dress in the lookbook, I knew it was a must have. But it was sold out everywhere! Well, after trying on some things in the second store and knowing how everything ran, I gave the Targ website one last chance. Nothing. So, I hopped on eBay on my phone and found the dress listed as high as $200. Um, no. Somehow, I found the dress in my size listed for $60 so best believe I had that trigger pulled before I even checked out at Target #2. Holler! Cannot wait to have the HG in my hot little hands.

As for the Super Bowl, I didn't have an allegiance to either team, but I just love the Manning family and was thrilled for Eli and the Giants!

Also, since its the beginning of February, I need to review last month's goals and list out this month's new objectives.

1. Stay out of Target unless I have a list of things I need

Ha! Funny that this is first on the list after I just went through my Jason Wu for Target adventures... But I must say as a whole, I've done much better with this, only venturing in to Target when I have a list of needs. As for yesterday, I certainly needed some Jason Wu. Ha ha!

2. Rather than make the lunch time Target trip, read a magazine or book and ~~eat~~ enjoy my lunch

I can't say that I've done well with the book/magazine piece of this, but I have done much better eating lunch at my desk and having some quiet time/blog reading.

3. Work out at least 4 times a week and log my meals in the My Fitness Pal app

So far, so good! I need to hit the gym more this week to cancel out this weekend (birthday fun + Super Bowl, yikes!), but I've gotten a few comments that people can tell I've been working out so that's always good.

4. Eat more nutritious items like fruit, almonds, etc and less processed food

This has also been a success, and I have so much more energy. Must keep this up.

And now, here are my new goals...

1. Clear mental clutter

2. Get in bed at a designated time each night so that I wake up refreshed and ready for the day

3. Use Sunday for meal planning, outfit planning, and to do listing for the week

Hello and good morning! I'm extra chipper at the moment since I'm on coffee cup numero tres. Not to mention, I did a Sonya Dakar enzyme peeling mask last night followed by her omega 3 repair complex, and I woke up to glowing skin. As in, I dreamed I had a vintage Chanel bag and then I woke up and it was there kind of glow.

I picked up this nautical sweater dress/tunic at H&M last week, and I luvre it. On me, it is much too short to wear as a dress (I'm 5'7), but J'adore it with leggings underneath. Its great for running around town, traveling (I wore it in the car this weekend and it was super comfortable), etc.

Several months ago, I shared the exciting news that my oldest and dearest friend LAS was engaged! Well now, wedding planning is in full swing and we are planning her BACHELORETTE party! I can hardly wait! Savannah, GA is the chosen location, and while I have been to SAV before... I've never been for my best friend's bachelorette weekend! If y'all have any suggestions for our trip, please send them my way! I am going to be one busy bee planning this weekend of fun!

PS: Since April 6th-8th is Easter weekend, we will most likely be in SAV the weekend of April 13-15th.

11 Fun Facts about moi
1. I am obsessed with green tea right now. I get the iced, unsweetened variety from Starbucks and put a little Splenda in it. Matter of fact, I am sipping one as I write this post.
2. I'm not a morning person, but I really enjoy my lazy weekend mornings. Wake up around 9, make some coffee, have quiet time and blog/magazine/book read. So relaxing!
3. I want some cute new workout clothes. Really bad. I got some new Nike LunarGlides and they are the best tennis shoes I've had in a while.

4. If you cut me, I would bleed red wine.
5. My current list of things to shop for spring/summer '12 is ridiculous (look out for a post on this soon).
6. And yes, I do make a list for every upcoming season of things I need/want.
7. My current list is being drafted by a leopard print pen.
8. I used to be a slave to the nail salon and was addicted to gel manicures, but I have gotten on a kick of painting my own nails. Love. Its been so fun changing up my nail colors more often! Also: Essie's Good to Go topcoat is awesome. My nails are dry in seconds preventing me from smudging one.
9. Currently, I have Essie Peach Daiquiri on my toes and Clambake on my hands.
10. I might start wearing white jeans before Easter. Not tomorrow, but like the last weekend in March.
11. I better have a stack of February magazines waiting for me at home or Imma lose it. So far, I've only gotten my new Harper's Bazaar in the mail.

1. What is your one wardrobe staple?
Errr. Do I have to choose just one? This is so hard. Leggings and Revas might be my top two. I'm going to say leggings in the winter and white jeans in the summer.

2. What is the best vacation that you've ever been on?
Tough question! Maybe Hawai'i? Or the Keys. Either way, I am most certainly a beach person. I also love every moment that I get to spend with my family at our beach house in NC.
3. What is the craziest thing you've ever done?

Ehhhh. Let's see. I'm sure how crazy this is per se, but probably a fun night that I had this summer with a dear friend who has since passed away. He took me all around ATL to some places I had never been before and will probably never go to again. But we had a great time and I'll always remember that night. RMM, I miss you so much, but I always smile when I think about this night.
4. Are you a morning or night person?

Can I answer neither? If I had to choose, I would say night person since I can stay up late more easily than I can wake up early. But I will say... I am an absolute terror if I don't get enough sleep.
5. What is your absolute favorite place to shop?

J. Crew. I love a lot of retailers, but I could pretty much live in all J. Crew all the time and be OK. But I also love shopping at Lilly Pulitzer, Nordstrom, Saks, and Anthropologie.
6. What is your dream job?

So many things... I would die to be a merchandiser for Kate Spade or Tory Burch. I would also love to edit... books or a fashion magazine. And lately, I've a major itch to design a line of clothes for the young post grad set. Lots of leggings, tunics, cute tops, etc. Basically all the things I'd like to have in my closet but sometimes can't find in a store.
7. What is the best beauty tip you have to share?

Fake eyelashes. They make you look so good. But I have to say the ultimate beauty tip comes from Audrey Hepburn. Happiest girls are the prettiest.
8. Who is your favorite musician/band and why?

Of all time, probably... The Beatles. Or maybe Tom Petty. Let's put it this way... if I was stuck on an island and could only listen to one thing it would be The Beatles. But currently, I cannot stop listening to Adele's 21 album. So good.
9. Iphone or Droid? Why?

Nothing against the Droid, but I have been an iPhone girl since 2008!
10. What do you enjoy to do when you're not blogging?

Shopping, spending time with family and friends, watching college football (most specifically, my Clemson Tigers), boating, spending time at the lake and pool, and trying new restaurants in ATL. Oh and day drinking. Put me on a patio with my best friend, and I am a happy girl.
11. Why did you start blogging?

Upon graduating college and starting life in the real world, I started blogging as a creative outlet. And I just love it!

Well, well, well... we've made it to Wednesday! Hope everyone is having a great week! Getting me through this week has been 1. bringing my gym clothes to work so I can change and get straight there, 2. Planning my meals in advance so that I have dinner basically prepared once I get home, and 3. Lots of new TV to look forward to!

What I'm Loving: Navy and White

Y'all. I have the worst case of spring fever! I must have this Lilly maxi dress. The octopus print is my hands down favorite for summer. Throw it on with a chunky gold bracelet and Kendra Scott earrings and you are all set. Not to mention, how prec is this Tory Burch tunic? Perrrfect for the pool!

Also, I mentioned earlier how I've made it a goal to cook more after work. Yesterday, I tried a crock pot chicken that DMS told me about, and it was scrumptious. All you have to do is put chicken breast in the crock pot with salsa. I used 4 pieces of chicken tenderloin, and mild sweet onion salsa from Publix. Cook it on low all day (or about 6 hours), and you have delicious and very tasty chicken when you get home! I shredded mine and made a chicken quesadilla. So good and easy!

New Shoes + Weekend Update!

Happy Monday and MLK! I'm in the office today, as my company does floating holidays but if you happen to have the day off I hope you're enjoying it! This was a wonderful weekend filled with fun, lots of rest, and beautiful weather.

Friday night, a few girlfriends and I went to dinner at Twist (mmm sushi and cocktails) and then went to see My Week with Marilyn. Such a cute movie and Michelle Williams killed it. Saturday, I woke up early-ish, got a workout in and went to lunch with AAD and her sweet parents. I ran a few errands, watched the Saints, and spent the rest of the evening relaxing. Then Sunday, AAL and I hit the gym (look at us go!), went to Tin Lizzy for a little Sunday Funday, and spent the afternoon shopping.

I picked up these precious flats at Dillards. Love the natural canvas with the cognac trim, but especially love the rope detail. How perfect spring and they were only $60! They also come in navy and white stripe and yellow and white stripe, which was hard for me to pass over but I thought these would be the perfect go with everything flat for spring. Happy shopping!

Shake it Out

Happy Thursday! Is it just me or has the week flown by? I've been struggling to get back in the swing of things post holiday, and I finally feel like I'm back on track. On my list of 2012 habits that I'd like to pick up is cooking dinner more often. When you work all day, go to the gym, and finally get home, its all too tempting to just heat up a Lean Cuisine. I really want to get a good collection of easy, healthy recipes that don't take a ton of time to prepare. If y'all have any Crock Pot recipes you'd like to share, please send them my way!

Last night, I made lettuce wraps and they were a huge success! Tasty, healthy, and very easy to fix! I used Jennie O lean ground turkey, Uncle Ben's teriyaki rice, and a few lo mein salad noodles to add a little crunch. Once everything is prepared, mix it all together with some soy sauce and teriyaki sauce and you are good to go!

Note: mine were not this pretty, but you get the idea!

In other news, I have been lusting after the J. Crew collection leopard Edie all season. I've seen a few pop up on eBay. Read: I can snatch it up for half the price. Then, I spy this on the J. Crew homepage... Perfect pre-spring piece? I think so. What do y'all think? Do I pull the trigger??

Weekend Update + OOTD: Casual Friday and Weekend Edition

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was just the right amount of fun and relaxation and I loved every minute!

This outfit was worn for causal Friday in the office. I picked up this sweater dress from J. Crew for a steal right before Christmas. I had been eyeing it online, and then I spied it on sale and in my size in the store. How convenient! Its hard to tell from the photo, but I put a navy turtleneck underneath for a little added warmth.

I wore this outfit for brunch and day drinking with the boy on Saturday afternoon. I just had to snap a photo after I mentioned the H&M a line sweaters the other day. This is the camel and black one. I literally wear this all the time. Its great with skinny jeans and flats, leggings and boots, or skinny black pants in the office.

All about Eyelashes

So I mentioned here about my new favorite beauty habit... false eyelashes. They sound like they would be high maintenance, but they are so easy! Just pop them on and go! I've made this a new habit of mine since I can spend way too much time in the morning applying mascara. With that said, I wanted to share a few tricks and tips that I've learned from experimenting with different types of lashes.

1. Buy the most natural looking set that you can. They may look sparse in the package, but they will look great and natural on. These Eylure (found here) are my favorite. They're found at Ulta and are often on a buy one get one type promotion.
2. Note: more expensive does not mean better quality. After trying the Eylure lashes, I was convinced that the ones by Benefit would be even better. Wrong. They were triple the price and the glue was not included! Not to mention that once I got them on, they looked really plastic-y.
3. Make sure to purchase lashes with a light "track." Lashes with a black colored track are much harder to make look natural.
4. Apply the strip of lashes as close to your lash line as possible.
5. Blend with mascara and go!

Hello 2012 + OOTD: Work and Play

Hello 2012! I can't believe it is time for a new year already. There's something so refreshing about starting a new year and having a fresh, clean start that I love. Out with the old and in with the new! So far, I haven't made any drastic changes... unless you count changing out my planner paper a drastic change. Ha! However, I do have some de-cluttering and simplifying in the queue.

And now on to some OOTDs! First up, here is what I wore yesterday evening to watch the Orange Bowl. The game wasn't exactly ideal for Clemmy, but I love any excuse to wear my orange Revas!

*Y'all these sweaters are from H&M** are ah-mazing. Super soft, great swingy a-line shape, and very versatile. I currently own three. One in solid black, one in navy and white stripes, and one in camel and black stripes. Great basic item that I live in!

**My love of these a-line sweaters from H&M just inspired me to give a little shopping tip of mine. I buy a lot of great basics from Target, Old Navy, H&M, etc. My advice?

1. Shop at lunch. The store is less crowded and less picked over making your overall experience much more manageable.

2. When in doubt, stick to the classics. Not only will the "price per wear" come back to you in spades, leaving you more money for Kate Spade, but things tend to look more expensive in black, camel, and navy than what you actually paid.

Back in Action

Well hello there! Oh hai, I forgot I had a blog. Just kidding! But somehow, the hectic nature of December caught up with me and I found myself with no blog posts! Oops. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends! I can't believe it has come and gone again, and now we have a new year upon us. Crazy!

Farewell Football

In no particular order, here are some random things going on with moi right about now.

1. In the spirit of the Holidays, I picked up this fun Kate Spade iPhone case. Love it! Also, I am having a major Essie Lacquered Up moment right now. It is currently on my fingers and toes.

2. Newk's just opened in the new Town Brookhaven shopping center and I cannot get enough! AAL and I picked it up for dinner twice this week.

3. I wore this yesterday for some random Sunday shopping, a few dollar beers at Noche, and Newk's take out.

4. I am so, so excited to be in Greenville for a few days to see my sweet family and friends.

5. But, I am going to miss this face while I'm gone.

PS: How cute are Roux's Christmas pajamas? She loves them!

TGIF! I am so ready for the weekend... going to see Breaking Dawn tomorrow at the new Cinebistro in Brookhaven. Edward Cullen and a cocktail? Totally my scene.

And here is today's outfit. The temperature is hovering around 50 degrees, and I am loving it. Perfect weather to dress for in my opinion. I wanted to wear something relatively simple and comfortable today, since I have to pack up my entire desk. My office is being renovated so we are moving across the building to the nice, new side while they finish the other side. Also, I haven't talked about these Theory leggings that I'm wearing today, but y'all I am obsessed. These are awesome leggings. They're thick, semi stretchy, long, and have pockets! I really need to get another pair.

Happy Friday, lovies! In honor of today being 11/11/11, I've made the most epic wish list ever! Ok, its not that epic, but with all the great sales going on, I've been doing a ton of online shopping. So here a few items I've found that I will be adding to my Christmas list!

J. Crew Fair isle sweater. So cute and cozy! I'd wear this with leggings and boots all winter.

Love this fun iPad case! And it matches my phone.

I've been really wanting a fun new pair of tennis shoes. Hoping these inspire me to hit the gym!

What's in my bag?

So, I've been dying to do one of these what's in my bag posts since we all know that the only thing I love more than a good bag is the stuff that goes inside it. I recently ordered this Kate Spade bag from the surprise private sale, and y'all... I am in love! Its a great size for everyday as I can fit all my essentials inside with ease. Plus, its got two open compartments and a zippered compartment in the middle which is perfect for organizing.

Yes, I got inspired to do this post at my desk. Hah!

Love all the sections inside. So easy to keep everything in its place!

All my stuff.

Wallet: I just recently purchased that red wallet, and it is awesome. Its actually a travel size wallet so its bigger than most. Perfect for me and all my receipts, cards, etc. I love the punchy redish, coral shade and I believe I will be using this for a while!

iPad: So great for playing on and blog reading during lunch! And yes I realize I look like a 10 year old with my pink case... and yes, I have a Lilly print as my background. So typical.

Planner: My life is in that planner. I write everything in there. And the pink and orange always makes me happy!

Purple Tory Burch card case: So, I ordered this case a while back as a means of getting free shipping from Tory Burch. Because of course I'd rather have something fun than pay for shipping. Duh. But rather than keeping cards in there, I keep barrettes, rubber bands, and bobby pins just in case my hair needs a touch up.

I also have at least one hairband, lip balm, a koozie, and some random assorted jewelry floating around my bag. You never know what you're going to need! My mom recently mailed me a Lilly koozie and iPad case as a surprise, and I love the bright pop of color they add to my essentials! In my opinion, you can never have enough bright accessories.

Cheers to Thursday! However, I woke up this morning thinking today was Friday. FAIL.

Wednesday + Leggings as Real Pants

ZOMG, y'all. Its my third post in a row. Look at me go! All fall, I have been on the hunt for some skinny, Audrey Hepburn-esque pants that were both flattering and comfortable. And don't require heels. Which is so out of character for me, because I am usually in tights, heels, and a dress all winter. Anywho, GAP was having a sale last week* so I snatched up a few different pairs of black pants hoping that one pair would be THE ONES. Enter the really skinny pant. They look more like leggings on the model, but they are in fact pants that button and zip. And are totally perfect for work! Love.

Also, please excuse my attempt at a pleasant looking face this morning. I've been told that I suffer from CBF (chronic bitch face), and that it is almost as bad as Dance Mom's Abby Lee Miller. Yikes.

Hello and Happy Tuesday, lovies! If you follow me on Twitter, then you may have already seen this photo but I had to post it here as well. Its the cape making its debut! It is not the original cape that I purchased, but rather a new one that I spied in Oxford, MS of all places in the window of Private Gallery on the square. The minute I saw it, it was a done deal!

Next up, is an outfit worn for "college color casual day" in the office. I've found a ton of great orange tops this season without even trying! This one below was purchased in a boutique in Town Brookhaven on the way to dollar beer night at Noche. What a find!

And speaking of finds, this outfit is a little boring but I just had to show y'all the bow belt I found at the Banana Republic outlet for like $20. Doesn't it bear a certain resemblance to the Kate bow belt?? I thought so, and I just had to snatch it up!

Random Monday + Its November!

Well, hello there! It has been a while since my last post and here we are in November. Crazy! I have a bunch of random thoughts to share so here goes...

1. I woke up this morning determined to make this a great, productive week. In other words, eating healthy and having my outfits planned out in advance. Thus far, I brought my lunch today and have all my outfits for the week written down along with the weather for each day. Woo, progress!

2. I had no real plans this weekend besides an engagement party for DMS, and it was fabulous! I was in the bed with my iPad and a glass of wine at 10:30 on Friday night. Just what I needed.

3. I am d-y-i-n-g for my new Kate to arrive at my door. Fingers crossed it is tomorrow. I snatched up this little jewel at the surprise private sale last week, and I'm obsessed. Quilting! Chain strap!

4. I cannot find my favorite leopard hairband, and it is driving me CRAZY. I hate it when I can't find something.

5. Gossip Girl is new tonight! And speaking of fall TV, AAL and I have gotten super into Homeland on Showtime. Has anyone else watched? So addicting!

6. I have been an H&M stalker lately. I've gotten a ton of great fall stuff there, and last week, I picked up a jewel tone green wool coat for $35! Holler!

7. The J. Crew 25% off promotion going on right now is seriously tempting me. Currently in my shopping cart?

I love cardigans, and this is one is so lady like and polished. Perfect for the office. Not to mention, I am having a major camel moment right now.

My idea of the perfect winter outfit involves this dress, leggings, Tory Burch Revas, a Burberry scarf, and a Chanel bag. Or perhaps now my new quilted Kate Spade bag. Ideally, I would have two of these dresses... One knee length for the office and the other tunic length for play.

I've been swooning over this bag all season. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I'll be able to snatch it up after Christmas for a steal of a deal. Or maybe Santa will bring it to me! Hint, hint.

I love these shoes. I spied them in the store, squeezed my foot into a 7, and told the sales lady not to bring them out in an 8 because I wouldn't be able to take them off! Again, hoping to snatch them up after Christmas.

Lastly, just for a laugh... I took Roux for a walk the other day and I couldn't find her leash. So what did I do? Just used a random Ethernet cord that I found lying around. When in doubt, make it work!

Soooo with this week being the end of the quarter, we get to wear jeans all week! Holler! Which means, I've got another casual day outfit for y'all. I have been SO tired of all my clothes recently and I cannot wait for true fall weather!

After obsessing for months over all the pre-fall fun in my September issues, I was dead set on finding a cute cape. I finally found "the one" at Ann Taylor Loft. It is super similar to the camel Rachel Zoe one with the piping. I cannot wait to wear it and will be sure to take a photo once I do!

Soooo, I was going through my OOTD phone photo archives and I noticed a pattern. Apparently, orange and navy is my new favorite fall color combo. When I was wearing the outfit below, I got the comment... you look like autumn. Well, thanks! Fall is my favorite, after all! Since I have so many navy things, I often wear orange and navy for Clemson even though our real color is actually purple. So I will have to pull these back out for a Clemson event.

Fall Favorites: Fur, Vests, Capes.. Oh my!

TGIF! I am Nashville bound for the weekend to celebrate KMP's big 25! Tonight we are doing a pirate themed treasure hunt/bar crawl. I'm so excited! However, I have a feeling I'm going to looking a bit more "french sailor" than pirate. Haha.

Currently, I own two vests. One is fur, and the other is Patagonia. Hmm. Bit of a contradiction there. However, I started thinking about the south's mild climate, and I think a chic vest would be perfect for much of fall/winter.

Fall Favorites: Autumn Orange + OOTD

...And we've made it to Thursday! YAY! Today's post is allllll about orange. I love wearing orange in the fall for two reasons. 1. It such a fun fall color, and 2. I'm usually wearing it on gameday!

First up, Lilly Pulitzer's "fannie" dress. I think this is such a precious dress and would be so perfect for work or play. It also makes me think that I need a pair of navy Revas to pair with it!

Y'all. I love scarves. So much. So naturally, the latest in my fall obsession/rushing the season is that I'm starting to add a scarf in place of a necklace in the mornings. Today's example... It may be over 90 degrees outside, but that hasn't stopped me from wearing a scarf! Albeit not without a few comments from my male coworkers. Are you cold??? Are you getting sick? My response: the only thing I'm sick of is hot weather!

Fall Favorites: Khaki Wishes and Cookie Dreams

I just had to title this post after one of my favorite movies, when I spied the trench coat below. Something about it kind of reminded me of Phyllis's jazzed up scout uniforms from Troop Beverly Hills. How is y'alls week going? It seems like we are blazing through August (literally. it is so hot in ATL) and are well on the way to September. If you follow me on Twitter, then you know that f-a-l-l is all I can talk about!

I love the black and camel in this Kate Spade dress. I'm thinking I would wear it with a black turtleneck underneath (hah, shocker), black tights, and belted with a calf hair leopard belt to cinch in the waist.

I've been dying for a trench coat since forever, but I have yet to find the perfect one. I really, really like this one with the feminine detailing and the piping. And I think the a-line shape would be perfect to put over dresses to head into the office looking very career-girl chic.

Fall Favorites: Stripes

Its no secret that J'adore stripes, but these are all of a more fall variety than of the nautical variety. This first top from Anthropologie has such a Kate Spade vibe with the green and white. And I love the bow at the neck. I would probably wear this tucked in with a navy skirt.

I love the slouchy-ness of this top. I would probably put it with leggings and cognac boots and a bright scarf. Or skinny jeans and a blouse with a bow peeking out for a casual Friday.

Love. this. dress. Its a sweater material so I am guessing that its infinitely comfortable. This would be perfect for work with black tights and pumps and a cardigan. This dress also comes in solid black, which I'm torn between since it would make a great work basic. But the stripes add such a fun quality. And don't laugh, but I'm totally trying to decide if this would look too mumsy with a turtleneck layered underneath.

Or you could make it supremely Blair Waldorf with colored tights (I would probably do something of the crimson/aubergine/deep purple variety) and a bow belt at the waist. I've got this one in mind.

Fall Favorites: Coral Coats

Happy Monday, everyone! I've been finding tons of fall favorites to share on the blog, and I thought it would be more fun to share them little by little. Up today... coral coats! I just love a bright colored coat. Such a fun accent in the gray of winter.

I am obsessed with this Milly coat. I love the color and I think the cropped sleeves are so chic. Plus, this would look great with black leggings, a turtleneck,* and leopard flats. Not to mention, I think this coat might look orange enough to do on Clemson gameday. The key with this coat is that I think the sleeves would make it comfortable enough to drive and shop in, etc. And oh my gosh, while we're on the subject of Milly... Have y'all seen the new Milly Minis line? So precious.

If I had a little girl, she would be wearing this on Clemson gameday with a white turtleneck,tights, and mini Revas with a big bow in her hair. If that doesn't say "sorostitute in training," I don't know what does.

I also love this coat from Anthropologie. It didn't get great reviews on the website, but I really like the shape. A-line coats are so flattering. Also, I think this color would pair nicely with browns, black, navy, and gray.

Hello and happy Friday! Just to give y'all a quick life update... I am back from the beach. Had such a wonderful time! Although, I am now ready for fall in a serious way, which has really influenced my outfits this week.

Also, I got to see an advance screening of The Help on Monday evening and it was amazing! So, so good. The acting was incredible, and the movie was very accurate to the book. Afterwards, Kathryn Stockett was on hand with the director and two of the actresses to answer questions. So interesting! Also, the costumes were fantastic. So 60s chic.

Finally, here is what I'm wearing today. I purchased this chambray shirt dress at the beach, and I have been dying to wear it ever since! Its great for the pre-fall transition, and I think it will be cute in cooler weather with tights and boots. Its hard to see in the picture, but I switched out the tie that came with the dress for this calf hair leopard belt. Y'all. I am full on obsessed with leopard right now. I wear a lot of blacks and camels in the fall/winter season, so leopard is the perrrrrfect accent piece. I purchased that Tory tote earlier in the summer, and it has gone everywhere with me. Its a great carry-all to take to the office. In fact, I need to do a "what's in my bag post" to show y'all the contents on my bag. It is f-u-l-l.

TGIF, friends! Once I get through that pesky little thing called work, I am beach bound for the Carolina coast! Cannot. wait. And because I haven't done this in forever, an OOTD! The skirt is an old favorite and and the top I purchased from H&M and have been living in this spring/summer. Its got a good bit of stretch to it so its the perfect shirt to wear tucked in with a skirt since it doesn't stretch out.

Love how Instagram makes the color in my skirt look extra saturated.

Chair Destiny.

Ohmygosh. Words do not even describe how obsessed I am with this chair. Itmakesmesohappy. I cannot wait to get my hot little hands on some upholstery fabric and get that cushion done in a fun fabric. Right now, I'm thinking I want a tan or hot pink ikat. Also, I cannot decide if I want to leave the chair green or paint it. Maybe a black lacquer? Right now, the chair is going to live in the den as a desk chair... so I want it to flow with the living room. But, I'm thinking I may want to leave it green because it would make the perfect vanity chair in my bedroom (once my room is big enough to house a vanity... one day). Sooo IDK. But then I think how stunning would this chair be in a black lacquer with a golden yellow/saffron ikat fabric?*

The story. I had been searching high and low for the perfect Chinese Chippendale chair. Simply put, I have been obsessed. The only problem was that every single chair that I found and loved was way too pricey. Until, I found this Ballard Designs chair on Craiglist!** Squeal! This was totally a case of chair destiny. Also, the lady who sold me the chair might have been a bit apprehensive about moi coming to her home after I was a wee bit over-aggressive with making sure I could come ASAP to snatch up that chair before someone else.***

*I am so indecisive. And can you tell I'm obsessed with ikat right now? Ha ha.

**I definitely have a future as a furniture hoarder. And perhaps, a nautical children's clothing hoarder after spying a ton of cute nautical themed things for little girls at Tory Burch, but that's a different story for a different day.

***I'm not crazy, promise. I just had. to. have. that. chair.

What do y'all think about the color/upholstery? Any suggestions?

PS: After writing this post, I'm now thinking that I might as well paint the chair black, because I can always change it later to make it a vanity chair in my room. Like how fun would this be in a white lacquer with Rubie Green's East Village fabric? Or maybe leave it black and do her leopard Jackie print?

Moral of the story: Now that the chair has been acquired, I am officially on the hunt for the perfect fabric. If its not one thing, its another.

TGIF, lovies! I cannot even tell y'all how glad I am to be back in the blogging routine. Also, the Nordstrom Anniversary sale starts today. OMG. Has anyone shopped it? We will have to discuss.

So, I am loving how Instagram makes everything look all artsy. Case in point, what would have been a pretty bland photo of my planner now looks all fun and graphic. I foresee myself playing with this a lot when I'm bored/stuck in traffic, etc.

Tiffany & Co's latest "What Makes Love True" series is too precious, and I thought some of the tips were too good not to share! There are about 40 total, but here were a few of my personal favorites...

Time for another What I'm loving Wednesday! On any given day, I am loving a lot of things, but I'm really liking the opportunity every Wednesday to make a list of what I'm most particularly loving. There's something about doing that that makes you thankful for the little things. You know what I mean?

1. Letting go of the petty things. I can be way too OCD for my own good, but sometimes, you just have to accept that things can't be perfect and maybe you aren't going to know all the answers and be ok with it.

2. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I've got my eyes on a few fun items that I will post about later. But mainly, I've been loving flipping through the catalog and seeing all the fun, fall clothes. #fallismyfavorite. Not that I don't love summer, but I'm gonna be honest. I loved it a lot more when I was unemployed.

3. Getting to see my sweet mother later today!

4. Britney Spears. This Sunday. So excited!

5. To do listing. I've got about ~~a million~~ ok more like 5 lists folded inside my planner right now. Including but not limited to: a beach pack list, a fall "essentials" list, a miscellaneous to do list, and a few others.

6. Instagram. Just downloaded it. Already obsessed.

Hello there! Hope everyone had a wonderful 40J! Mine was spent on lake time, and it was so enjoyable to relax and not touch my hair dryer or makeup alllll weekend. Since my last post, I haven't been up to too much. Mainly working on a project at the office that is taking up a good bit of my time, lazy weekend days at the pool and lake, and a few trips on the side! I went to Charleston to visit LAS, NOLA with AAL for a long weekend, and I'm prepping for a beach trip at the end of July! I feel like the summer is flying by! Before we know it, it is going to be fall and football season.

~~Pashmina afghan~~.* One piece. Soooo first things first. Friends, I am alive. Apologies for being so absent lately! I don't have any particularly interesting news to share about being gone. I did not attend the Royal Wedding. And no I was not over in Pakistan helping to take down Osama.** Gosh, we had a news filled weekend.

I did however take a little trip to the beach over Easter weekend, which was so wonderful! Thanks to my sweet parents for wining and dining me. I had a great time! And other than that, I've just been career girl-ing it during the M-F, 9-5 space and pooling/laking it during the weekend. And shopping, of course!

Which bring me to these fun suits that I've found while scouring the internetz. I honestly cannot pick a favorite, I love all of these so much. And how perfect for the Fourth of July! Navy and white is my favorite color combination for summer, and I love how you can easily incorporate other colors with it to change the look.

I spied this Tibi suit at Anthropologie, and it was ~~love~~ obsession at first sight! The seahorse print is so fun and playful, and I am all about one shoulder swim wear. My very favorite suit from last season was the black and white Spanx one shoulder ruffled suit. I'm picturing this with a white eyelet cover up and hot pink accessories. Add a pair of aviators and you're all set for poolside chic!

SHOP! Apologies for the lack of posts this week, but I have been busy, busy as we have a few changes going on in my office! I was, however, able to sneak out for lunch earlier where I scooped up this cute skirt from Ann Taylor Loft! Love the yellow color and the rope belt. Friday's Fancies: Oscar Edition

Hello and Happy Friday! This week's Friday's Fancies is a fun one as it is Oscar themed! Yay, yay, yay! If I were en route to the red carpet, I would love to be wearing a look similar to this one. The dress is Rachel Gilbert (found at Net-a-Porter) and the clutch is Judith Leiber. I love how the clutch resembles the beading on on the dress without being too matchy. I think the pink satin pumps add just the right pop of color along with the turquoise earrings. For beauty, I would do a loose chignon so that earrings really stand out. I also think this dress calls for dewy, glowing skin with some major blush and a subtle lip and eye. I would do hot pink polish on my hands and a nude color on my toes to go with the pumps. Hope I don't wind up on the worst dressed list! Oh the horror!

I don't know what it is today, but I am so out of it! Ahhh... I have been so scatterbrained all day. Anyway, a big thank you to Angela of belles & bows for tagging me in this fun questionnaire! We have a lot of similarities (an obsession with being Blair Waldorf, the South, Chuck Bass... just to name a few) and so I had the hardest time coming up with different answers.

It is such a fun creative outlet, and I love writing about things I'm passionate about.

College (football season in particular)... right about now my mind is going blank. Ha ha.

I like to channel my inner 5 year old whenever possible. For example, today for lunch I had apple slices and chicken nuggets. For a snack? String cheese and animal crackers. Totally took me back to kindergarten. And don't even get me started on hair bows. Love.

Beauty Review: Look Alive

I was chatting with J Moss of Seashells and Southern Belles yesterday about makeup and it inspired me to do a beauty review. I love trying new products, especially when they come highly recommended!

I recently picked up the Smashbox double-ended eye brightener, and I really like it. Its great for making tired eyes look alive in the morning. I use the highlight side on my brow bone and then I line the inner corners of my eyes (on the top and bottom) with the other side. I wasn't sure that it actually made a difference, until I did one side and looked in my magnifying mirror. Huge difference! It is like an insta-face lift. If anyone is in the market for a product that brightens the eye area, this is a great one!*

Happy Tuesday! I don't know about y'all but I am already on the countdown until Glee and The Good Wife tonight. What did everyone think about Gossip Girl? Next week looks so good! Even though Chuck and Blair aren't together... I am loving the scheming.

Some days (and especially on Mondays), you just need a little pop of color to brighten up the day. I am all about splashy accessories, whether it be gloves or a scarf on a cold day or a bright bag. I love orange and pink... either paired together or separate. In fact, my Kate planner is pink on the outside and orange on the inside. And I think both of these bags (by Kate Spade, of course) would add a punch or at the very least a smile on a gray day. Why am I such a bag junkie? Also, am I the only who is dying to find out what the Kate color is for February? I am crossing my fingers that its pink!

This bag is just begging to accompany me to Death Valley. What a perfect gameday bag!

I just love elephants and I think they are so precious to incorporate into home decor. I spied these salt and pepper shakers at Jonathan Adler, and I have-to-have them. They are just so cute!

I've been swooning over this leather elephant footstool (also Jonathan Adler) since forever. I'm not exactly sure what I'd do with him, but I want him. I'm thinking either in my room next to my green chair to use an ottoman or perhaps in a corner that is in need of an accent? I also think he'd be cute in an entrance hall...

Chambray Skirts

Chambray skirts have been on my radar for spring, and here are two different styles that have caught my attention. I love the shade of this Tibi skirt, and I think this would be so cute with a patterned, drape-y top tucked in and chunky, strappy platform sandals.

The Lands End Canvas version is great for play, and I am picturing it with a navy and white nautical stripe top and my bright orange Tory Burch jellies. Not sure why, but I always envision those jellies with a dark shade of chambray. I'd also do the Lands End skirt with a fun top and some wedges like the Chloe ones pictured yesterday. Side note: I've seen a similar Tory pair for about half the price, but I am still wanting to find a pair for around 100 to feature!

I am ob-sessed with the new Jimmy Choo 24/7 line of bags and luggage. So glam. But I'd be remiss if I didn't note how Birkin-esque that flap is on the handbags below. Let's hope Hermes doesn't see the striking resemblance and take Tamara Mellon to court... a 1400 Jimmy Choo Rosalie is a bit easier to manage than the original. Well, unless I decide to sell my car and buy a bag!*

I've been having an extra rough week at work, so when I saw that Tory had some new markdowns, I was all too happy to put down the work and take a little break! Here are some of my favorite finds from the sale.

Obsessed with this dress. Perfect with black tights and pumps for the office.

I have been eying these boots for a while, and I'm thinking they are a must have!

Bonjour, Pre-Fall 2011

I was just perusing Tory Burch's pre-fall 2011 collection on style.com,* and while I can't say that I was loving it, I was pleased to see that stripes (!) are here to stay. Tory described her pre-fall as "a little Parisian chic" so I expected to like it, but the color palette and silhouettes were a bit bland for me. Although, I did see a few cross-body chain bags that looked promising. Also, I see that Jenna Lyons and the J. Crew crew** have made some headway with the whole socks + heels + bare legs combo. UGH.

* Because really, what else would I be doing post lunch coma on a work day?
** Get it??? Ha ha ha.

Stylish Blogger Award

Sending a big thank you to Courtney and Jordan for tagging me with the stylish blogger award! Even though I am terrible at coming with random things about myself, its kind of fun to rack my brain.

1. I do not lose things, ever and on the rare occasion that I do, it drives me so crazy that I can't stop until I find whatever item was misplaced. However, my travel makeup bag was lost during my trip to Chicago and I don't have a dern clue what happened to it. This friends, has made me crazy ever since. I think something may have happened to it in security, but no idea. In it? Oh you know, just my favorite, most essential makeup like Nars blush and lip gloss, Chanel lipstick, and my DiorShow mascara. No big. Nottttttt.

2. I wouldn't call myself OCD, but whenever I buy a magazine or book, I always pick the one on the bottom of the stack.

3. I am ob-sessed with reading. Fashion magazines, a good book, whatever. I literally pore over a new magazine until the next issue comes out! I am the same way with a good book... I cannot put it down until I've finished it.

4. It may be January, but I am already looking forward to spring and listing out fun spring things that I want to find.

5. I'm turning 25 this year, and I am already freaking out. Not so much freaking out about being older, just that I have a list of things I'd like to accomplish by then that I need to get on!

6. I think 2011 sounds like it should be in the space age. Also weird, it makes 2008 (the year I graduated from college) sound like forever ago. Not ok.

7. I am dying to change up my hair, and I think I've found my solution. Loving Lauren Conrad's rich brown shade with highlights around the face.

Chicago Recap

Finally! I have some pictures up from Cousin and I's trip to Chicago. We had such a great time! I think Chicago is such a fun city. We stayed at the Drake, which was so convenient to Michigan Avenue (shopping!). Added bonus: all of the Christmas decorations were still up when we first arrived, but I didn't get any pictures before they took them down in lieu of some more Spring themed floral arrangements.

In between shopping, we ate some delicious deep-dish pizza at Lou Malnati's (so good, highly recommend the classic "Lou" pizza), drank Bloody Marys at Petterino's and saw Wicked (absolutely loved it and can't wait to see it again), went up to the Sky Deck at Willis Tower, and had drinks at the top of the John Hancock building.

Also, if anyone is in Chicago, I highly recommend dining at Hub 51. Its a fairly trendy restaurant located at 51 West Hubbard Street. Such a fun scene! And the "hub punch" is tdf. I am dying to recreate it. If anyone has a good drink recipe with citron vodka, silver tequila, and pomegranate, do share please!

Back in Action

Soooo, after being snowed in all week, I am finally back in action in the office. Hooray! And also, how crazy to have a one-day work week. Next week is going to be a s-h-o-c-k to my system considering it will be my first 5 day work week since before Christmas! So crazy.

I'm not sure if y'all subscribe to Shopafrolic, but if not, I highly recommend. It is written by sisters Liz Lange and Jane Wagman, and each day, they send you their picks for fashion, accessories, and beauty. They have great taste and I've discovered a ton of great stuff thanks to them!

Today's e-mail featured a Chanel-esque chain cardigan from Forever 21. See it below. I literally live in cardigans so I am always happy to find more. While scouring the F21 site, I found some more fun nautical picks that I thought I'd share!

Looks like the postman is going to be delivering me a fun surprise from F21 next week! Happy Friday!

PS: Is anyone else craving spring weather as much as I am? It is literally all I can think about!
